thredbo

Thredbo is centrally located in south east New South Wales in the Snowy Mountains and within driving distance of Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney for weekend trips and longer stays. Thredbo was established just over 43 years ago and the past fifteen years has seen an enormous amount of development on facilities and infrastructure.

Thredbo's location and elevation makes it perfect for heaps of natural snow. The elevation means the snow starts earlier and stays long but as will all resorts we are at the mercy of the elements and to our advantage the owners of Thredbo have invested heavily in a large snowmaking system and continuing to do so which makes the trip to the resort a safe bet even in the most marginal of seasons.

Styled in European architecture with an Austrian feel Thredbo boasts some of Australia's finest restaurants, boutique shops and of course, without bias, the best skiing in Australia.

There is a wide variety of accommodation so you can enjoy Thredbo regardless of your budget. The village itself probably has the best atmosphere of all the Australia resorts, which adds to the experience. Thredbonet specialise in accommodation in the Woodrdige area of Thredbo, that is the accommodation closest to Friday Flat, the home of the Thredbo ski school and Thredboland.

At 1365 metres above sea level Thredbo offers the year round holiday experience, skiing in the winter and all the activities of European spa town in the summer. Play golf, go walking, horse riding, try your hand at trout fishing, tennis, mountain bike riding and white water rafting.

Summer in the snowy mountains is all about relaxation and enjoying the beautiful alpine world highlighted by summer events such as the Blues Festival in January and the Jazz Festival in May. For the active and sports enthusiasts the village has a very challenging 9 hole golf course right in the village as well as tennis courts, the institute of sport with its olympic pool, mountain biking, fishing and don't forget the unforgetable walks to Mt Kosciuszko from the top of eagles nest.

or just do nothing....
