THREDBO ACCOMMODATION SKI RESORT
Thredbo is the most recognised
and popular ski resorts in Australia. Thredbo (36°29'S 148°18'E) at 1341 metres above sea level is a all year round resort and village in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia and is located about 500 kilometers south of Sydney.
Thredbo's location and elevation
makes it perfect for heaps of natural snow. The elevation means the snow starts earlier and stays long but as
will all resorts we are at the mercy of the elements and to our advantage
the owners of Thredbo have invested heavily in a large snowmaking system
and continuing to do so which makes the trip to the resort a safe bet
even in the most marginal of seasons.

SKIING
A highlight of a any days skiing is the Crackenback Supertrail,
a 5.7km run from the highest lifted point in Australia to the valley terminal at the village. It's worth it for the view alone. We love to stop for refreshments on the way down at the variety of mountain huts. Black Sallees, Eagles
Nest and the legendary Kareela Hut provide the sustenance to continue
to the bottom.
Of the advanced runs Funnel Web, Cannonball and Michael's
Mistake are the pick of the bunch. Intermediates have a great range of
terrain to choose from in the Merritts area with highlights being Exhibition
and The Falls. The annual Thredbo Top to Bottom, for both Boarders and skiers, provides
some amazing scenes with its Le Mans style start. There are great prizes,
such as trips to the US, so if you think you can beat some of the best
get to Thredbo for the big race.
Winter also has concerts, a mixture of cul tural events such as Snowyfest, a short film festival held in June plus winemakers dinners and other activities outside skiing.
SUMMER
Summer in the snowy mountains is all about relaxation and enjoying the beautiful alpine world highlighted by summer events such as the Blues Festival in January and the Jazz Festival in May. For the active and sports enthusiasts the village has a very challenging 9 hole golf course right in the village as well as tennis courts, the institute of sport with its olympic pool, mountain biking, fishing and don't forget the unforgetable walks to Mt Kosciuszko from the top of eagles nest.
If you haven't been to Thredbo then you've really
missed out on some great skiing and boarding, not to mention the nightlife
...if you haven't visited in the summer thats again something different, whatever get up there this year and see what all the fuss is about.
